April 12, 2024: Book 2, Chapter 2

Pages 4-6 are uploaded!

Hey everyone!

Three new pages have been added this morning. As most of you have guessed by now, hungry Trolls and closed-minded humans won’t be the only opposition faced by our valiant team of were-beasts throughout this story arc… read on to meet our big-bad villains!

Today, I’m doing some work on an exciting project I’ve hinted at in blog entries past: A Varulv Art Book! Before the end of the month, I’ll start taking pre-orders on a limited run of these books, which will not only feature a special collection of concept art and my thoughts on world-building, but also, the whole of Varulv #1 without lettering, word balloons, or sound effects — just the art! Plus, as promised, I’ll be doing sketch-covers for these… which means you not only get the chance to have a limited-edition collectible book, but a one-of-a-kind sketch drawn by yours truly, as well! I’m very excited to get these in your hands!

That’s all I have for now! Hope you’re having a great Friday and as always, we’ll catch you next week with three more pages as the story continues!

April 5, 2024: Book 2, Chapter 1

Pages 1-3 are here!

Hey gang!

Book #2 is here at last and I’m so excited to be kicking off this new chapter in the series! We’ve got three new pages this morning, and we’ve got a lot of questions to answer. What’s going on with these magic-using troll guys? Will the Iele and Trolls actually form an alliance? And will the people of Blaidfästt finally get over their lycanophobia? It all remains to be seen in the next 24 pages and it all starts now!

In other news, I’m going to be doing a little work on the Wiki this weekend, so you can expect new, expanded character profiles and more as I go through all that needs updating on that side of things. I’m also planning on making a limited run of Varulv Art Books which includes the whole of the first issue without text, and more cool stuff! Stay tuned for that.

Lots of other groovy things are just on the horizon for the series too, so if you haven’t done so already, why not join our pack and sign up for our newsletter? You’ll also get access to our Discord server where you’ll have the opportunity to chat with me and other readers! I’m usually running my mouth about this book over there, and we’re always happy to see new faces.

That’s it for now, pals! See you next week with three more pages!

March 30, 2024: Issue #2 Begins Next Week!

Varulv is moving into a weekly update schedule!

Hey hey! A couple of announcements this week!

Next Friday, April 5th, I’ll be posting the first three pages of Varulv #2 and kicking off weekly updates for the series. Every week for the next 8 weeks, I’ll be bringing you guys three new pages every Friday as we make our way through our second story: “Deceptions.” Don’t miss an update! Unless… you know… you can’t make it for some reason. In that case, feel free to miss an update because it’ll still be waiting for you here when you can read it!

Of course, if you were one of our pre-order backers, by now you should have received your limited foil edition in the mail! I’m getting notices from people on the daily, letting me know they’ve arrived! If, however, you were one of our supporters and haven’t gotten yours yet, please get in touch and I’ll be happy to have my team look into what’s going on.

Finally, I’m in the process of working out logistics for an art book that also features sketch covers! I should have more information on that before the end of April. Too, I’ve begun compiling various texts for the Wiki. Failing to find a suitable replacement that I like which would also play nice with our current website layout, I’m just going to re-launch the Varulv Wiki over on Fandom. And of course, that means you guys can contribute as well, if you want to. Look for more info on that as I get it all done.

So that’s everything for now, guys! Remember – if you want to get notified of comic updates and more, the best way to do that is to join our pack! We have our weekly mailing list, and if you’ve got as little as a dollar to spare each month, then you can join my Patreon. Thanks, as always, for your support!

Seeya later, pals!

March 22, 2024: The Books Have Arrived!

Special Edition #1 comics will be going out to pre-orderers, next week!

Hey gang!

I was excited to find a big ol’ package of comics delivered to my door last night! Issue #1 is back from the printers and that means yours truly will be packing up pre-orders this weekend so they can be shipped to backers, this week! Thanks again for making our pre-order campaign such a success.

My only regret is not taking more time to get the word out. Folks have been asking me how they can get their hands on a special edition print of Varulv #1, and while I’d love to extend the deadline to get in on it, I cannot go back in time. That said, I am considering a special run of sketch cover editions of the book, complete with one-of-a-kind sketches gracing each one. For this, I’d definitely do an Indie-Go-Go campaign, as the excitement over the series has been way bigger than I expected — I’m sure I couldn’t handle a bigger campaign without the aid of a distribution service! So keep your eyes peeled! More on that to come…

Meanwhile, the best way to keep up with news about the comic is to join our pack! For those of you who just want to get stuff sent to your emails, we have our weekly mailing list. And if you’ve got as little as a dollar to spare each month, then you can join my Patreon. If you join either, I’ll not only ping you once a week with these updates on the site, but you’ll also be first in line to hear about special events I’ll be doing, see exclusive content, and of course, get access to our Discord where you can chat with me and other fans as well. In fact, I just posted the preview sketch of Varulv #2’s cover over on Patreon! So if that’s the kind of stuff you want to see, please consider supporting me over there. I thank you in advance!

So that’s what’s happening now, folks! Remember, Issue #2 starts in two weeks (Friday April 5th) and with spring on the horizon, it won’t be long before I hit the convention circuit, too! I’ll be talking more about my upcoming convention appearances and all the groovy stuff I’ll be bringing with me, in the coming updates.

Until next time, pals!

March 15, 2024: A Look Ahead

Issue #2 goes into production

Hi, everyone!

As they say — when you finish a book, you’ve got 10 percent of the work done. To that end, I’ve certainly kept busy since wrapping our premiere issue and this week, the first pages of issue #2 hit my art desk.

First thing’s first — updates will resume on Friday, April 5th! I’m also moving into a weekly comic update schedule, aiming to post three pages every Friday. I appreciate those of you who reached out to me and asked about daily updates, and while I can’t accommodate a timeframe that rigorous, I can easily go from updating six pages every other week, to this new schedule.

Next, to those of you who ordered Issue #1 — the books are being printed as we speak! Due to the massive success that was our pre-order promotion, I managed to score premium covers for these limited edition books. Not only are they being produced with sturdier 100lb stock covers, but they’ll be set against a super-rad silver foil background! Along with my signature, I’ll individually number each one, making them that much more collectible!

Digital editions of the book are also selling well! I’ll be using the proceeds of those and what’s left over from our pre-sale to print standard “floppy” editions of the book, so those of you who meet me at comic conventions this summer can get a physical edition if you want one! Can’t meet me at a convention? No problem! We’re partnering with our old friends, IndyPlanet, to have printed editions available for order, worldwide!

So that’s everything to report on, this week! Once again, thank you for your readership and support! As always, I’d love an honest review over on Amazon if you could spare a minute (you didn’t have to buy the book there to review), and if you want to connect with myself and other fans of the series, why not join our mailing list and get access to our Discord, as well? We’d love to have you!

Until next time, pals!

March 8, 2024: Digital Editions of Varulv Now Available

Get them for all your devices!

Hey everyone!

This week, I’m happy to announce that Varulv #1 is now available in PDF and MOBI formats over on our Gumroad page. If you’re like me, you love the convenience of having your comics in a digital format. And, like me, you probably prefer to have your digital copies on your own storage. With that in mind, our Gumroad store has you covered!

Also, for those of you who picked up the limited edition of Varulv #1, they are on their way to the printer as we speak. I sent out a survey to my orderers and am happy to announce that we’re doing a kickass foil cover for these books. They are going to look super-primo and I couldn’t be more excited to get them to you guys. And yes, regular “floppy” editions of the comic will soon be available to purchase, as well. Stay tuned.

Production on the next books has been started and I hope to fill these update pages in the coming weeks with further snapshots of that, as well as the aforementioned character profile pages and tweaks here and there on the site design in general. Hope you like where things have gone, thus far.

Anyway, that’s all for now, pals! Have a great weekend and thank you for the support!

March 1, 2024: VARULV Book 1, Chapter 4

The final Pages of Issue #1, 19-24, Updated!

Greetings and salutations, friends! Today marks the last update of Varulv’s first issue! Thanks for hanging out with me over the last two months. There is so much more to come!

That said, we’ll have a bit of a break as it pertains to comic updates here on the website, but fear not — I have lots to do to keep you guys interested as I work on the next issue.

On the agenda first and foremost, are dedicated character profiles. I also want to strike out and update the old Wiki pages over on Fandom, since that’s been one of the best resources I’ve found to keep track of all the lore as I (re)write it. I also will have some layout updates to the website as a whole, to aid in navigating the site.

So, there’s a lot of work ahead of me, but a lot of exciting things to come as well. I’m really looking forward to bringing you more of the story in a few weeks’ time!

February 23, 2024: Last Week for VARULV Limited Edition #1 Pre-Orders!

Get them while you can!

Hey all!

Just a note to let you know that I will be closing the VARULV Pre-Orders on Thursday, February 29th! This is your best chance to secure one of these limited run, signed and individually numbered editions of VARULV Issue #1. And the keychains are also going fast, so if you want one of those along with your pre-order, get them ASAP! I can’t say when they’ll be in stock again!

That said, I wanted to thank you for the support for this pre-order! It’s definitely been wonderful seeing the popularity of the series hitting an all-time high again! I want to thank you for your readership, getting your friends to check out the series, and just being as excited for VARULV’s return as I am.

Next week, we’ll have our last update for this book, and after that, onto issue #2! See you in a week!

February 16, 2024: VARULV Book 1, Chapter 3

Pages 13-18 Updated

Hey gang, and happy weekend to you all! Today’s VARULV update means we only have one more before Book 1 is finished. It’s wild to think how far we have come in just a few weeks, but I hope you’re enjoying the new series as much I have enjoyed bringing it to you guys!

Six new pages are up tonight, and we’ve reached a very important milestone in any series’ initial run — the entire main cast has now been introduced and assmbled! Kit joins the team this week, and there are further revelations about Ulven physiology and what it means to join a pack of werewolves in the Northlands.

In other news, merchandise is also on the horizon, and I should have some updates on that in the coming days! Enjoy the update in the meantime, and see you with more comics in two weeks!

February 9, 2024: VARULV Classic Updates

The Final Classic Issues (2013): 7, 8 and 9 Are Now Available in the VARULV Classic Archives

Hey guys! Uploading the new VARULV Classic stuff today marks the end of VARULV Classic content. I hate leaving things on cliffhangers, but I’m afraid that’s how it went down, back in 2013 when these stories were first published.

So what happened?

Back when I was first doing the VARULV series, I was living with my husband in Ohio, preparing to take on more comic book work when I got a call from my parents. It was then I found out that my mother had cancer, and I made the decision to pack up everything and move back home to Pennsylvania. I became quite busy that year, and 2014 was full of highs and lows. Sadly, my mom eventually passed away, but my husband and I were fortunate to have a ray of sunshine come from behind that cloud in the form of our daughter, who was born right before mom’s passing.

When they say there are times in your life where you can cut the whole thing in half from what is and what was, I truly understand what that means, now. The year 2014 was like that for me. I came in as one person and left as a wholly different one. Unfortunately, most of my comic work didn’t come with me. But things are different now, and I am glad that I am able to reboot VARULV with the same amount of excitement it enjoyed in years past. To that end, I hope you all have enjoyed looking back on what was, and are looking forward to what will be.

And I understand that some of you will definitely feel cheated, not knowing what happens on several fronts at Issue #9’s abrupt conclusion. So with that in mind, read on only if you want to hear about what might have been, if the series had been able to continue a decade ago…

The following is not canon to the new storyline, but has the potential to be spoilery as it remains a source of inspiration to the overarching VARULV plotline. Read with caution!
