Printing Pitfalls, IndieGoGo and More
Hey guys!
Wish I had a better update for you, today. If you have been following me on our IndieGoGo campaign or Discord server, then you know I was hit with a major issue last weekend when my printer announced they will be going out of business. This printer is one I have used for five years and to say I was sad to hear they’ll be shutting down is an understatement. Unfortunately, I was planning on using them to print the Trade Paperback this winter, and I won’t be able to send them files in time to lock the project in before they close shop.
So this week, I have been working on finding another printer. It… hasn’t gone well. Hehe.
The two backup printers I had in mind both upped their MOQs. One of them is in Japan as well, and I don’t want to gamble with what may be high tariffs in the near future ontop of putting a ton of money to print books I’ll need to find some way of storing. I’m not big on taking on more than I need when it comes to spending money, so both printers are a no-go, and unfortunately, that means my search continues. Rest assured — if we fund the book, I’ll figure things out.
One small piece of advice I found for myself when doing this project is — don’t start a crowdfund in November of 2024. In all seriousness though, I understand each and every one of you who have sent me notes explaining that things are just really hard to find money for at the moment. You have nothing but my love and support. I get it — jobs are hard to get, money feels like it’s flying out the window without our collective permission, and we’re all in the same boat no matter how good or bad we had it just a year ago. To that end, if we don’t fund, then I’m just going to head back to the drawing board and figure out another way to get the books to you guys in 2025! Promise!
Onto better things: A little announcement/reminder today. I’ll be at Manheim Comicon next weekend, the 23rd and 24th of November! Check it out:
With all this going on, I had to push back this week’s update to next week. My apologies — I just didn’t have time to put the finishing touches on pages 16, 17, and 18 to the point that I was happy with them. We’ll get back to the story next week! I can’t believe it’s almost over!
Alright — that’s everything for now, gang. Thanks for bearing with me, and I’ll see you next Friday!
Awooo,
Dawn
